Built by Dr. McCardell in 1887, it served as the community's medical facility for a while. And because of the family's taste for the finer things in life, the McCardell residence hosted many of the town's premier cultural and social events.
McCardell Cottage Bed & Breakfast has received the Civic Pride Award, and is the first and only home in Polk County to receive a National Recognition of Historic Places plaque.
